![]() ![]() That brings the head bridge up and controls Play, Rec, Rew and FF mode The control motor is the smallest one (sitting far bottom right of the transport) operating the big wheel with the big nylon lever over it by a small belt known for slipping if that deck has been in longtime storage. ![]() ![]() What do you identify as the control motor? I am thinking you cant just use any motor now. I have been playing around tryin to understand the logic but ust STUCK literally. I did take them out and connect them to the new motor in the same order but still no luck. There are 2 capacitors on the outside of the original motor plus one inside the motor.(just the outter ones are connected to the chassis in series ). But when I hit STOP the motor still kept spinning even though the cassette stopped playing and the play head went down. So I connected an extra wire to the negative part of the motor and touched it to the chassis and hit PLAY. Then the FWD and RWD worked correctly in the right direction but when I hit play the motor would not turn. So i interchanged the connections + and. When I hit play the motor worked but also in the wrong direction(hence cassette wouldent pplay). Rewind and forward worked but in the wrong direction. Connected the positive and negative correctly mounted it on the chassis and put the deck together. I took out a 12 volt motor from a pioneer deck and tried it. So I took a decision to replace the motor. Deoxit dint fix it (the shaft seems lose more like the bush is worn out ). But the control motor was having dead spots. She began to run everything was working and she sounded nice as I never actually heard the deck before buying it. Its been 3 weeks I am working on the deck.Īll the belts and fresh new tire on the idler. Auto shut down mechanism belt was lose, azimuth alignment not right. I picked it up in non working condition unaware there is so much work to do on the deck. Since its rare in this country where I stay to come across such decks, I went for it. I have recently become addicted to tape decks, found one in fact after allot of research and reading reviews. I have now moved to the "tape" part and soon I will move to vinyl in the future. Both sides of both tapes will be loaded and played in succession, so this will give you even a better experience. My name is Allan and I am addicted to vintage stereos and speakers. ![]() Why should I choose a dual cassette deck if I don’t like dubbing?Īnswer: Even though you’re not into dubbing, having a dual-well tape deck will allow you to also play two tapes, and that means that you won’t have to lift a finger for hours while listening to your cassettes. Given the fact that each head has its own task, the frequency response is a better one than you will find in the 2-head ones.Īnother feature the 3-head cassette deck provides is that the way the heads are arranged will allow you to listen to the signal on a tape right after it was recorded, without stopping the recording process. The results are good in both record and play, but if you go for a 3-head deck you will see that it uses separate heads for play, record and erase so it has a better performance. For example on the 2-head deck, the first head is used for recording and playback, and the second one for erasing. ![]()
